When, however, about a week ago, Dr. Bulstrode asked me if I would read my paper to-night, owing to circumstances which unfortunately made it impossible for Professor McWeeney to read the paper he had promised, I felt it my duty to this Society to endeavour to elaborate my contribution a little more. Accordingly, I wrote to a few
